FINALS season began in Ellesmere Port on Saturday for the town’s junior teams.

The four first of three weekends of big games in the Ellesmere Port Junior League started with the Subsidiary Cup finals.

Four finals were played at Whitby Sports and Social Club on Saturday.

AFC Waverton defeated Groves 6-1 in the Under 12s Bob Hinds Cup, while the U13s Colin Stokes Cup final saw Ellesmere Port Town overcome Princes Villa 4-1.

The U15s Larry Ellis Cup was won by Young Lions, 2-0 winners over Ellesmere Port Town, and the U16s Dave Kimpton Cup final saw Heath Rangers defeat Rossway United 5-1.

An U12s league play-off also took place, with Peninsula Lions defeating West Kirby Panthers Reds 4-1.

The League Cup finals take place this Saturday and are followed the Saturday after by the Knockout Cup finals.
