ELLESMERE Port Town Girls are celebrating title glory – with two games of the season to spare.

The club’s under 16s secured the Cheshire Girls U16s League championship at the weekend, defeating second-placed Warrington 6-0.

Port’s goals came from Katie Sanders (2), Amber Senior, Lucy Thornton, Katie Priest and a penalty from goalkeeper Emily Walker.

The player of the match award went to Jess Simmons.

There was good news too for Ellesmere Port Town Ladies. They progressed to the semi-finals of the League Cup with a 4-1 victory over local rivals Rivacre Ladies.

Port’s goals came from player of the match Toni Livens (2), Becky Powell and Sian McArdle.

Port’s U14s went down to a 4-2 defeat to Frodsham. Their goals came from Kasey Tideswell (2), with Anita Upton named player of the match.

Port’s U12s played twice on Saturday – losing their first game before winning their second.

They kicked off with a 2-1 loss to Sandbach Girls, player of the match Tash Mitchell scoring their only goal.

But Port bounced back with a 3-0 success over Barnton Girls.

The goals came from Libby Marsh, Megan Hicks and Mitchell.

The player of the match award went to Saffron Hughes.
