ELLESMERE Port are flying high in West Cheshire League Division One.

An excellent start to the campaign has propelled the Port up to second spot, just one point behind Ashville.

On Saturday, they were 2-1 winners at home to Cammell Laird Reserves. James Cross and Mark Price got the goals.

Vauxhall Motors Reserves have not been able to match their town rivals’ start.

They lost 3-0 at Newton on Saturday and are currently 12th.

Elsewhere, a brace from Dayo Akinlabi helped Willaston to a 2-0 home win over Southport Trinity.

There were also a string of Wirral FA Amateur Cup first four games on Saturday.

Ellesmere Port 3rds lost out 3-0 at home to Manor Athletic Reserves, while Ellesmere Port Reserves went down by the same scoreline away to Mersey Royal.

Heswall Reserves were too strong for Neston Nomads, winning 5-0 away, and Capenhurst Villa also crashed out. They were beaten 2-0 at New Brighton Reserves.

A representative team from the West Cheshire League takes on the Isle of Man in the FA Inter-League Cup this Saturday, kicking off at 1pm at Rivacre Park.
