ELLESMERE Port are celebrating their result of the season!

They faced West Cheshire League leaders Ashville on Saturday in the semi-finals of the Pyke Cup – and pulled off a superb 2-0 victory.

Goals by Colin O’Hanlon and Mark Price (penalty) saw the Port home against the runaway league leaders.

Hopes of an all-Ellesmere Port Pyke Cup final were dashed, however, as Vauxhall Motors Reserves went down 3-0 at Maghull in the other semi-final.

Mike Cummins (2) and Lee Tynan scored for the Merseysiders to ensure they will face the Port in the final.

The big showdown will take place on Friday, May 4. The match will be at Vauxhall Motors’ Rivacre Park ground and kick-off will be at 7pm.

In West Cheshire League Division One on Saturday, Willaston had no answer to mid-table Chester Nomads.

The basement boys lost 3-1 at home, Trevor Worsley scoring their only goal of the game.

In Division Two, Capenhurst Villa fought out a 2-2 draw at home to West Kirby Reserves.

Alan Locke and Mark Ryan were on target for the hosts, who are eighth in the table.

The day’s Division Three action saw Neston Nomads notch up a 3-1 success at home to Christleton Reserves.

Mark Nokes netted for the Chester visitors but his goal was cancelled out by strikes from Martin Coan, Jack Rowland and Alex Clare.
