ELLESMERE Port Town Ladies have tasted success at the double this season.
Having already been crowned champions Division One of the Cheshire Women’s League, the ladies added the Challenge Cup to their collection on Sunday.
They defeated Urmston Meadowside Ladies 4-3 after extra time in a match played at Barnton FC.
Lucy Thornton, Sian Clowes and Katie Sanders scored in normal time for the Port, who were 3-1 down at one stage.
Striker Toni Livens bagged the extra time winner.
Port manager Steve Simmons said: “That was probably our most difficult game of the season, but the team showed their true character to come through. The girls have been fantastic all season.”
Simmons thanked assistant manager Nigel Basnett and the ‘fantastic support’ his players received on the day.
