THERE was no separating Ellesmere Port and Vauxhall Motors Reserves when they met for a derby in Division One of the West Cheshire League.

The town rivals fought out a goalless draw at Whitby Sports and Social Club last Friday.

The result left Port sitting fourth in the table, while Motors reserves are 11th, with five points on the board after a mixed start.

Willaston’s torrid start to the new campaign continued when they suffered a heavy 8-0 defeat at Marshalls on Saturday. The away side are yet to record a point so far.

In Division Two, Capenhurst Villa sit comfortably in mid table after a dramatic 4-4 draw against Ashville reserves. Mike Urmston bagged a brace, while Mark Ryan and Nick Cushing were also on target to earn a point in a thrilling encounter.

However Villa’s reserve side fell to a 3-1 loss against Mossley Hill Athletic Reserves in Division Three, with Andrew Crawford netting the only goal for Cape.

Lee Moores scored for the second week running, but it wasn’t enough for Ellesmere Port Reserves as they went down 2-1 to Merseyside Police.

There was still no joy for Neston Nomads.

Their 8-0 loss at New Brighton Reserves inflicted more misery, ensuring they are still to get off the mark.
