CUP action was the dish of the day in the Ellesmere Port Sunday League.

Westminster emphatically won at home to Oaklands in the Cheshire Sunday Cup. Goals from Stewart Carroll (2), Dean Barlow and Tony Ashton gave Westminster a 4-0 victory.

In the first round of the Stan Dukes Memorial Cup, Castrol Nomads eased past FC Sportsman’s, winning 5-0. Ashley Robinson bagged a brace while Mark Kelly, Sean Wilson and Peter Bird completed the rout.

Grace booked their place in round two with a 1-0 win at ITCL Gunners, Ben Sherlock doing the honours for the travelling side.

Only two games survived the wet weather in the opening round of the Kingkab Cup.

ITCL Gunners Reserves held hosts Old Wirral Hundred to a 3-3 draw after extra time. Tony Taylor struck twice and Paul Gatrill registered for OWH, but two from Adam Young and a Gary Lunt effort levelled things up.

Cat slayed The Bull 2-1 at home thanks to goals from Rob Stockton and Chaney Lloyd. Jamie Livens replied for the visitors.

A small number of league matches also took place, with Bull Wanderers losing 4-3 to away side Wing Half in the Shell Premier Division. The winning goals came from Lee Hammond (2), Dave Greenaway and James Curtis.

Sean Robinson scored twice for SCFC 94 as they beat Rivacre 3-1 in Division One. Len Jones also scored for the hosts, with Stephen Lewis grabbing Rivacre’s goal.

Sir Robert fell to a 3-0 loss at home to Westminster Reserves. Steve Sass, Chris McNeill and Paul Boyle secured the points for Westminster.
