HOLDERS Castrol Social laid down a marker for any team hoping to wrest the Pyke Cup from their grasp as they wiped out Blacon YC 6-1.

The round two contest at Cairns Crescent on Saturday was decided by goals from Jordan Brierley, Mark Ryan (2) and Steve Hickson.

It was a good weekend for Ellesmere Port sides as they all knocked out Chester-based opposition in the cup.

Ellesmere Port travelled to Christleton to register the second victory for the town, winning 2-1. Mike Jones’ double meant Sean O’Rourke’s strike for the Swans counted for little.

Vauxhall Motors Reserves completed the town’s triumphant cup weekend, beating visitors Upton AA 2-1 with goals from S Grove and Anthony Carroll.

In Division Three, Capenhurst Villa Reserves saw off Christleton Reserves 2-1. Lee Hammond and Danny Higginson bagged the points for Villa.
