A MEXICAN footballer with strong links to Ellesmere Port has seen his dream move to Tottenham Hotspur collapse.

But Antonio Pedroza Whitham, whose English mother Katrina works in Ellesmere Port and lives in nearby Thornton-le-Moors, could now sign for Crystal Palace.

The 20-year-old has spent the week training with the Championship outfit after his transfer to Spurs was called off.

Pedroza, who was born in Chester before moving to Mexico when he was a child, had claimed that a deal to take him to the Premier League giants had been done.

But the 5ft 7in speedy striker was left disappointed after it fell through at the last minute.

Pedroza, who is out contract with Mexican Primera Division club Jaguares, headed home to his mum’s house before returning to London to train with Palace.

Pedroza was reportedly in the frame for inclusion in England’s squad for the Under 20s World Cup in Colombia this summer, but did not make the 21-man squad.

He qualifies to play international football for both England and Mexico as he was born in England but has a Mexican father.

His mum Katrina came back to the UK three years ago.
