SNOOKER: AN excellent 5-1 win at Conservative B saw Wings A increase their lead at the top of the Chester and District League's Division One to six points over Conservative A.

Cons B started well with Gary Jaros defeating Mark Jarvis on the black ball but that was the end of the scoring for Cons. Wins for Coe, Jones, Formstone, Allen and Haycock gave the visitors a 5-1 win.

Second-placed Conservative A won 4-2 at United Services A. They got off to a good start with Dave Smith comfortably beating Mark Roberts.

Alan Platt replied for Services by defeating Eddie Jenkins and Gerry Bye-water put Services in the lead with a black-ball win over Steve Williams.

Andy Short levelled for Cons with an easy win over Paul Ellis and then it was left to Lea Dagher and Neal Jones to complete the win with victories over Roy Baker and Alan McDonald respectively.

Third-placed St Theresa's B could manage only a 3-3 draw at Snooker Centre. Theresa's went 2-0 down with Snooker Centre winning through Jim Kolar and Dev Phang. Theresa's fought back with Wayne Amey just getting the better of Francis Owetti and Peter Sheppard comfortably defeating Peter Gerrard. Joey Wynne was too good for Lawrence Gorman but the match of the night was between Mark Hughes (Snooker Centre) and Barry Davis (Theresa's).

This frame went down to the wire with Mark knocking the black in with the pink leaving Barry needing the pink for the frame. This came off the jaws, rolled over the opposite pocket and left Mark to pot the pink and black for the frame and seal a 3-3 draw.

United Services B stayed in the top four with a 4-2 win over St Werburgh's.

In Division Two, Broughton Wings B and City Transport fought out a close contest in their draw at Broughton.

Gordon Dugdale defeated Dave Parry comfortably and Colin Morris displayed his old form with a win over Mark Taylor. Wings hit back with Archie Lamb winning a black-ball game against Wayne Davies.

Shane Futcher restored Transport's two-frame advantage with a solid win over Darren Mackie but Wings would not lie down and came back again with wins by Ian Beales and Frank Mills.

CCO recorded a good 4-2 win over Liberal A. They raced into a 4-0 lead through Mark Lloyd, Martin Dodd, Geoff Powell and Kevin Rowlands.

United Services C continued their winning run at the top of the table with a 4-2 win against St Theresa's A for the second week running. Martyn Walsh opened the scoring for Services, defeating Micky Thomas comfortably, but Theresa's hit back with Pete Challinor outscoring Tony McKevitt.

Unbeaten Geoff Cadogan and Paul Lewis gave Services breathing space. Ray Cheers pulled one back for Theresa's, defeating Dave Sherwin, but Tony Courtney continued his winning run to beat Alan Cheers and give Services their win. St Saviours went four points clear at the top of Division Three due to the postponement of the match between the second and third clubs, Upton B and D.

It was, however, to their cost when Roy Proctor lost his unbeaten tag to Sean Growney of Upton RBL C after Saviours had raced into a 3-0 lead through Peter Tilston, Brian Conde and Steve Proctor.

Derek Morris made it 4-1 with Andy Bevan winning the last frame for Upton.

Liberal B won their home bottom-of-the-table clash against Waverton B 4-2.
