TRIATLON: CHESTER Tri Club's Jean Ashley was fifth lady in the Gatorade Big Half Triathlon at Trentham Gardens, Staffordshire.

Her finishing time of 5hours 15mins for the 2k swim, 90k bike and 20k run earned her f irst prize in her age group and her 1.40 performance in the half marathon was the fastest by a lady for the event.

Chasing her was Sue Haslam, who put in a f ine performance to finish second in her age group, and seventh overall with a time of 5.42. Andy Stokes came third overall in the accompanying sprint triathlon in 1-08.44, missing second placing by only two seconds.

Clubmate Andy White topped a solid performance in the 2.4-mile swim and 112-mile bike ride with a 3.50 marathon run to finish 334th in an overall time of 10-29.15.

The same distance was tackled by f ive of his clubmates on Sunday in the Longest Day Triathlon at Wolverhampton with Mark Tabor finishing the course in 10-15.49, Tony Fisher 11-45.29, Gerard Wilkinson 12-34.57 and Colin Wilson 13-11.14.

Nigel O'Connell and Mark Bennett tackled the Bournemouth International Triathlon, which featured a 1.5k sea swim followed by a 40k cycle race and a 10k run.

Although Bennett was first out of the water, O'Connell fought back on the bike and the run to f inish the event in 2-22.23, with Bennett coming in with 2-23.04.
