ANGLING: FISHERMAN'S Tackle are pressing for the Heronbrook Fishery League title after their second spot on Sunday pushed them into second place in the table.
Leading their efforts on Sunday were Neil Machin with 30lbs 8oz of carp, backed up by Andy Moore's 27lbs of carp and Colin Cooke's 18-8-0 of skimmers.
The Rod 'N' Reel team also put in a sparkling performance to finish fifth and move up to 12th, led by Lenny Bolton, who won his section with 21lbs of carp.
Chester Tackle Locker Sidekicks finished midway and are 13th, their best effort coming from Adrian Paddock with 28-8-0 of carp. Locker's 1664 team was 10th and are 17th overall. Their leader was Les Picken with 11-8-0.
Ray Iball won the Milton Green Fishery open match with 33-8-0 of carp and Shaun Sandham had a good day in the Tarvin Sands AC match on home waters. He not only won with 35lbs of carp, but also drew the golden peg to collect £91.
Last Friday's Lloyd's Meadow Fishery open was won by Sam Kennedy with 44-12-0 of carp and, on a dour day, Kenny Stuart needed just 2-8-0 of skimmers and roach to win the Wirral Borough Council AC match at Offa's Dyke fishery.
Saltney Social AC struggled at Milton Green Fishery where Alan Williams relied on 3-12-0 of carp and tench for victory.
Willaston AC were 10th and remain 11th overall following the penultimate Seacat Super League series on the Leeds and Liverpool Canal at Maghull. Top weighers were Phil Crimes with 1-7-9 of small roach, backed up by Charlie Smith with 1-6-0 and Brian Wood with 1lb.
Mark Davies was top in the Manley AC match at Manley Springs Fishery with 7-12-0 bream and tench, and the Rivacre AC match at Blundell Fishery, Irlam, went to David Grimes with 12-7-0 of hybrids.
FISHERIES NEWS Lake Hill: Steve Owens, of Chester, netted a 9-8-0 rainbow to ledgered worm and Richard Hutchinson, Broughton, tempted three rainbows for 5-3-0.
Harthill: Tony Cooper, Malpas, lured 12 carp to an 11-4-0 common, all to pellet.
Lloyd's Meadow: Mike Parsonage, of Upton, weighed in 85-4-0 of carp, orfe and barbel using silly bait.
Tree Tops: David Wild, Chester, coaxed a 5-12-0 rainbow to a hare's ear.
Meadow: Peter Tuthill, of Chester, fished a cat's whisker to land a 4-8-0 rainbow.
Burton Mere: Chester's Winston Duck-ers netted 17 carp up to 6lbs and 20lbs of skimmers with maggot or pellet.
Dearnford Hall: Michael Owen, of Ellesmere Port, found a 9-3-0 rainbow and Carl Cox, of Ellesmere Port, fished an 'f' fly to take a 7-1-0 brown trout.
Forest Hill: Saltney's Eric Pearson, had a 2-8-0 rainbow to a worm, as did Shaun Kelly, also of Saltney, weighing 2-13-0.
