GYMNASTICS: BETH Tweddle aims to put her European heartbreak behind her as she returns to action this weekend.

The Bunbury gymnast will be on home soil at Liverpool as 2000 Olympic Bronze medallists China come to Britain with a full squad for the first time.

Tweddle will make her brave comeback in the international friendly just 20 days after her European disaster in Debrecen, Hungary.

The 20-year-old was leading the field on the asymmetric bars and floor and was second in the all-around qualifications.

But a freak fall during her warm-up on the bars saw her rushed to hospital and forced her to withdraw from the event.

Tweddle will have a fight on her hands for the medals on offer tomorrow with two of the brightest stars of international gymnastics expected to be on show - the 2003

World Champion on beam Fan Ye and the double 2004 Olympic finalist Li Ya who won the bars in Glasgow last year and silver (bars) and bronze (beam) medals at the World Cup Final in Birmingham, in December.

Adrian Stan, British Gymnastics technical director for women's artistic gymnastics, said: 'This will be a very important step in establishing connections with our Chinese friends and we hope this event will become an annual tradition. Seeing one of the strongest teams in the world, the hosts of the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, will provide a very good opportunity to learn from the great performance style and experience of our guests.'
