RUNCORN Wrestling Academy believes it is on the way to becoming the best in the North West.

The school's last show of 2006 played to a packed house at Grangeway Centre.

The atmosphere during the main event - an eight-man tag elimination match - was electrifying and provided a fitting end to the year with victory going to Team Steel.

They defeated Team Knights of the Squared Circle with Joe Steel as the sole survivor.

Earlier, F8L Fury beat RXW to win the TWA Tag Team Championship.

Meanwhile, a replacement title belt was presented at the show to reigning RWA champion Joe Steel.

Founder Andrew Baker said: 'It was another great show.

'I would just like to say a big thank-you to everyone who has attended the school this past year, everyone who took part in the shows, to all the RWA staff for their efforts, and not forgetting the fans.

'Without the fans, there would be no RWA. I am very proud of the trainees and RWA wrestlers.'

He added: 'At every training session and every show, everyone always seems to outdo their last performance.

'I am sure 2007 will be a huge year for the RWA and I think we are well on the way to becoming the best in the North West.'

Training at Grangeway will finish on Saturday, December 16, for a well-earned break, resuming on Saturday, January 6.

The next show is on Saturday, February 10.
