An 'incredible’ atmosphere prevailed at the Pony Club Championships at Cholmondeley Castle over the weekend.

That’s the verdict of Pony Club chairman Cherry Michell, who was delighted with the four-day event.

Large crowds enjoyed action across the three Olympic disciplines of show jumping, dressage and cross country, as well as mounted games, polocrosse, centre equitation and musical ride.

Michell said: “I talked to hundreds people during the four days and heard nothing but praise for the 2013 Championships.

“The event organisation, in conjunction with Musketeer, has been brilliant. The venue looked stunning and there was an incredible atmosphere.”

Highlights at open team level included North Shropshire Hunt’s victory in the Equest & Equest Pramox Show Jumping; Cotley Hunt’s success in the NAF Superflex Dressage; and VWH Hunt’s triumph in the Strutt & Parker Eventing.

Carmen Gammie, from the Deeside Branch, won the NAF Superflex Open Individual Dressage Championship and the new Elite Dressage competition, riding Champagne Bubbles.

One of the highlights was the Musical Ride competition which produced some incredible displays of ridden choreography to music. Cheshire Hunt North’s ‘Pied Piper of Chester’ took the honours.
