ACE expert John Davies has hit his fifth hole-inone in 30 years.

The Crewe GC member aced the 163-yard 17th at Brocton Hall GC with his five iron.

Meanwhile, at Alvaston Hall GC, Steve Roberts won both the handicap and the scratch competitions in the club championship.

In the handicap, he put in a pair of seven under par rounds of 57 to take the title, pipping Alex Cliffe (nett 117), and Roberts (total 138) again beat Cliffe (total 139) in the scratch.

Don Beeley's nine under par 55 was the best overall round.

Dave Long and Roger Newell won Alvaston's annual Senior Amateur Men's Open for the second time in three years.

The pair won the four-ball, betterball competition with 47 points, and won a holiday for two. Last year's winners of the event, sponsored by Warner Breaks and Cooper Buckley Transport, Jim Whitlow and Charles Allen were second, with Stan Godfrey and Beeley in third.

At Queen's Park GC, Dan Pawliszyn (78-12=66) won the ABC Cup from Darren Jennings (76-12 =64). Winner of the Midweek Medal was new member John Davies (78-12=66) from Paul Ladley (76-9=67).

Wychwood GC has become one of the first in the UK to provide golfers with the fastest and easiest way to book their rounds.

It has linked up with www.TeeTimes.co.uk - a new golf booking website which is free for golfers to use - and each week the club will make a select number of tee times available online, which can be seen and booked from anywhere in the world.
