RUNNING: TEENAGERS Becki Ellis and Chris Pietrusiak have booked their place in a national final after steaming through regional running heats.

The talented pair turned in performances to be proud of when they represented South Cheshire College in the North West College's regional heat at Witton Park near Blackburn.

Becki swept aside the challenge of over 40 competitors to win her race outright while Chris was the sixth best finisher in his run out of a 60-strong field.

Becki, who is a second-year BTEC Sports Development student and Chris, a first-year BTEC Sports Science student, are both relishing the prospect of the National College Cross Country Final which will be staged at Loughborough in April.

College spokesman Dave Brereton said: 'We are really proud of their achievement. For both of them to qualify for the final is tremendous. Becki won the girls race comfortably and Chris's finishing position was excellent considering the number of runners taking part.

'It's great for the college that we have two excellent prospects. Hopefully they can both do well in the final which brings together runners from colleges across the UK.'
