TABLE TENNIS: HALTON is double tops in Cheshire Schools table tennis.

Mark Roscaleer won the Under 16s' county title on Saturday.

And Matthew McCormick, nine, took the U11s' crown.

The boys now qualify for next month's English Schools National Championships at Stoke-on-Trent.

Halton's James Wearden triumphed in the consolation event at U13s level.

Meanwhile, Halton Table Tennis Club has been chosen by the English Table Tennis Association to be part of a Government sports project.

The club's involvement in the PE School Sport Club Link (PESSCL) has been financially aided by ETTA and the Local Network Fund.

Halton TT has also been supported for the scheme by Halton Borough Council sports development team and the PE schools adviser.

Karen Tonge, Halton club chairman, said: 'Already, seven primary schools and two senior schools have taken up the opportunity for free table tennis skills sessions - either at school or at Halton Regional Table Tennis Centre at Halton Stadium.'

Meanwhile, Halton club is celebrating another landmark as the first table tennis club in the North West to achieve Clubmark status.
