Ian Wood copped first place in the Cheshire Police fly-fishers' match on the Draycote reservoir.

He weighed in with eight rainbows for a 22-6-0 total, including the best fish of the day - weighing 5-8-0 - taken to a black and green lure.

Mike Wellman was second with six rainbows for 20-4-0.

Alan Roberts won the Malpas AC match on Dimelows pool. A 4-5-0 carp helped him reach 10-3-0 to beat Kevin Arrowsmith (9-0-0).

In Sunday's North Wales Winter League match fished at Carmel, Rod 'n' Reel's Bernie Leatherbarrow was top rod with a skimmer and roach catch weighing 14-13-0.

Chester Tackle Locker's Phil Weaver (14-2-0) was runner up and Rod 'n' Reel's Carl Fletcher (11-9-0) was third.

Ellesmere Port club Rod 'n' Reel won on the day with 58 points, just ahead of Chester Tackle Locker on 56.

Rod 'n' Reel lead the overall series and Tackle Locker lie third.

Losing an 8-0-0 barbel did not deter Paul Spencer from winning the Egerton AC match on the River Severn at Monkmoor. He bagged a mixed 8-14-0 to finish clear of Paul Morrellle (5-11-0) and Phil Dawson (3-0).

Railway Barrow AC fished on the River Severn at Gravel GHill, Bob Ruscoe winning with a mixed 8-4-0 to beat Trevor Roberts (5-2-0) and Geoff Paddock (4-5-0).

Dave Hall was top rod for the Sensas match group in the Wirral Winter League on the Shropshire Union Canal at Waverton. A 1-8-0 perch, bream and gudgeon made up his winning 6-3-7.

Bob Mason of Frank's Six was second with 5-1-12 and Peter Nelson of Willaston Red third with 4-15-15 of roach. Ray's Tackle team won the day with 31 points ahead of Dockers (28) and Willaston Black (27).

Steve Furfie won the Helsby Sports and Social Club AC match on the BICC pools, taking tiny roach to weigh in with 7-5-0.

Mark Greasley chalked up another victory in the Cheshire Police AC match on the Red Lion length of the River Weaver, taking roach to weigh 6-15-0.

Ron Evans was victorious in the Grosvenor Estate AC match on a private brook on the Eaton Estate. He took small fish to weigh 1-12-0.

The Mickle Trafford AC match on the Wal Goch Fishery was won by George Mitchell. He won with a rainbow trout of 16-0-0, taken to a cat's whisker.

Andy Cook won the Wirral AC match on the Border Fishery, his carp catch weighing 34-8-0 beating Mark Caffery (29-8-0) and James Ralphs (23-8-0).

Neston match anglers chose the Brookside fishery for last Sunday's match, where Tom Hardy won with carp weighing 15-3-0.

First place in the Tuesday match at Tarvin Sands Fishery went to Malcolm Dawes. He weighed in with skimmers and tench to 11-8-0. Stuart Davies took the honours in the fishery's Saturday match with 55-14-0.

Steve Openshaw was top rod in the Thursday open match on the Lingmere Fishery, taking a carp-based 102-8-0 to finish ahead of Darren Stanton (95-10-0).

There was no catching Sam Kennedy in the Tuesday Rovers AC match at Hampton Springs Fishery on Tuesday.

He took a carp-based 84-2-0. The club's Thursday match on the fishery's rock pool was won by Gregg Roberts with a carp-based 94-12-0.

John Woolley took top honours in the Ellesmere Port British Legion AC match on the River Weaver local to the Red Lion.

He bagged roach and skimmers to weigh in with 6-12-0.

Mark Greasley won the Borough Council AC match on the Bay Malton Fishery, taking small carp and barbel in his 15-8-0 haul.

Alan Williams set the pace in the Rake and Pikel AC match on the national length of the River Weaver. He won with roach for 4-12-0.
