BOTH Airbus, Broughton, teams in the Airbus National Championship match at the Border Fishery were flying high at the end of the contest.
The Chester A team finished top and in third place was the Chester Acas team. Top individual honours went to John Woodrow, of the A team with 60lbs of carp and some quality roach taken on the pole with pellet up in the water tactics for a total of 79-10-0. His support came from Andy Amos who had 19-8-0 of small fish.
Leading the Acas team was Dave Jones, who was runner-up in his section with 49lbs of carp, and Lee Balshaw with 29lbs of carp.
There were some encouraging catches from the Dee at Almere Ferry for members of Lavister AC. Adrian Paddock won with a 7-13-0 net of small fish, ahead of John Murdoch's 3-10-0 of chub and Graham Herridges' 2-13-0 of small chub. Top senior citizen with 1-3-0 was Gordon Rose.
Mark Davies was up front in the Manley AC match at Mouldsworth Mere with 14lbs of tench and bream. John Bristow was next with 13lbs of bream, roach and rudd and Alan Cooper had a 10-8-0 mixture.
The positions of two local teams in the Crewe and District Summer League changed little following Sunday's match on the SU Canal at Market Drayton. Chester Tackle Locker were fifth and moved up one place, thanks to Chris Morris with 2-2-10 of small fish, supported by Wayne Jevons with 1-10-12 and Paul Rose with 1-7-0.
Willaston were seventh and remain 11th overall. They were led by Ray Rigby, who was fourth with 5-15-0 of small fish, James Hughes with 2-7-0 and Phil Cross with 1-10-0.
Martin Morrelle was up front in the Eger -ton Arms AC match at Bowling Bank on the Dee with 5-5-0, including a 4-4-0 chub. Phil Dawson and Paul Morrelle shared second place with 0-0-8.
Malpas AC fished local club waters where Keith Arrowsmith won with a carp-based 23-14-0, ahead of Cyril Roberts with 12-8-0 and Simon Coomber with 11-15-0. Top junior with 1-8-0 was Kevin Arrowsmith.
Lobol AS concluded their series of Wednesday night matches at priory pool and the latest winner was Geoff Selby with 9-2-0 of ide and skimmers, ahead of Maurice Molloy's 7-6-0 mixture and Matt Ball's 6-2-0 of bream.
The Sunday club match was at Lingmere Fishery where Gerry Forshaw was top with 20-12-0 of small carp from Martin Grafton's 19-3-0 and Geoff Selby 16-12-0.
Victory in the Helsby Sports and Social Club AS match on the BICC factory pools went to Terry Archer, who landed an 8-2-0 mixture of bream and roach to beat Geoff Maguire's 7-15-0 of bream and chub and Chris Hargadon's 5-12-0.
Two Wirral Game Fishers' members had good catches from the Dee. Tom Flood, of Vicars Cross, netted a 9-8-0 fish from club waters at Chirk, which fell to a spinner, and Mike Cavanagh, of Heswall, tempted a 16lbs fish from the upper reaches using a spin-ner.
John Mort was up front in the Grosvenor Estates AC match at Eaton Hall with 3-11-0 of tench and rudd from Danny Mort's 0-11-0 of rudd and Ron Evans's 0-8-0.
Trevor Roberts beat allcomers in the Rail -way, Barrow AC match on the Severn at Monkmoor with 4-14-0 of small fish. Alan Dodd had a 4-12-0 barbel and Alf Lewis took a 3-14-0 bream.
Weights in the Greyhound, Saughall AC match at Springlea Fishery were better than most with Steve Bampton putting 39-14-0 of carp on the scales. His brother Dave was next with 34-12-0 and Paul Dimmock third with 30lbs.
The honours in the Blacon Social Club AC match at Offa's Dyke Fishery went to Mark Davies with 19-10-0 of carp from Michael Coleclough's 8-15-0 and Phil Nevitt, who had a 3lbs ghost carp in his 5-9-0.
Ian Jones posted a victory in the Royal Mail, Chester AC match at Tatton Park lake with 10-12-0 of roach, beating Lol Deponeo who had a roach-based 9-4-0, and John Wannop with 7-12-0.
Victory in the Saltney Social AC match at Milton Green Fishery went to Dean Postles with 32-2-0 of carp and crucians from Lee Lloyd's 14lbs of carp and Andy Williams' 12lbs of carp.
A 2-9-0 catch of small fish was enough to earn victory for Jeff Williams in the Rake and Pikel AS match on the Golden Nook length of the SU Canal at Waverton. Pete Griffiths took 1-11-0 and Alan Williams 1-5-0 for the minor places.
Dave Gentile landed 80lbs of silver fish to win the Peg One AC match at the Gweryd Fishery, well in front of Craig Mahon's 3-12-0 and Ron Ashbrook's 3lbs.
Len Rivet was the leader at the end of the Airbus, Broughton Flyfishers' boats' match at Llyn Brenig. His four rainbows weighed 9-2-0, ahead of Barry Greenaway's four-fish 8-9-0 and Eddy Jones' three-fish 6-8-0.
Dougie Walsh took top honours in the Rivacre AC match on the Sankey-St Helens Canal with 12-8-0 of bream, beating Ian Lloyd, who had 7-11-0 of bream, and Jason Connah with 4-12-0 of roach.
Alan Radda won the Retired Professionals SAC match out of Pwllheli with five black bream and mackerel for 15lbs. Runner-up was Dave Quinney with a specimen trigger fish weighing 2-8-0.
Shaun Sandham had another success when he won the Tarvin Sands AC Tuesday match at Cheshire Fishery, Tattenhall with 41-4-0 of carp, from Les Picken's 17lbs of carp and Ron Hawksley's 14lbs. He completed a double on Thursday at Winsford Flash with 15lbs of roach and perch ahead of Alan Roberts's 13-12-0 of roach and Chris Hunt's 12lbs.
Mark Greasley had a good win in the Cheshire Police AC match at Lymm Dam Lake with 12-8-0 of roach and skimmers, from Ron White's 11-2-0 and Alan Roberts' 6-8-0.
Steven Gerrard was back in action in the Burton Mere Fishery Wednesday open match and won with 49-14-0 of carp, well ahead of Terry Windsor who had 31-1-0 and Winston Duckers; 30-10-0.
The Sunday match went to John Turner with a carp-based 41-9-0 from John Woodrow with a 34lbs mixture and Mick Woods, who had 29-15-0 of carp.
FISHERIES NEWS Milton Green: Peter Smith, of Ellesmere Port, lifted six carp up to 8lbs, plus crucians to 1-8-0 to luncheon meat or paste, and John Walker, of Chester, lured six carp between 8lbs and 10lbs and a 14lbs mirror carp to luncheon meat.
Burton Mere: Pete Green, of Chester, tempted a 21-4-0 common carp to pellett.
Harthill: James McGinn, of Ellesmere Port, tempted 18 carp between 1lb and 20lbs to bread.
Cheshire: Neil Young, of Chester, coaxed 150lbs of carp between 1lb and 10lbs to floating bread crust.
Four Oaks: Twelve-year-old John Toye, of Saughall, tempted a 4lbs carp and a 3lbs tench to luncheon meat.
Meadow: Brian Thomas, of Chester, tempted a 3-10-0 rainbow to a black nymph.
Dearnford Hall: Stan Edge, of Chester, coaxed 7-1-0 rainbow to a red epoxy buzzer and Cestrian John Hargreaves netted 14 fish, his best a 5-1-0 rainbow all to a red epoxy buzzer.
