HOCKEY: TIM Davies had the final say for Chester in an 11-goal thriller at Tynemouth on Saturday, hitting his fourth goal of the match in the dying minutes to give the visitors a 6-5 triumph.

Chester took an early lead, but Tynemouth soon equalised and they found themselves 3-2 up at half time. After the break, the lead changed hands before the score reached 5-5 - then Davies popped up with the winner.

Stu Field and Matt Hyden were Chester's other marksmen.

Chester's second team defeated Mossley Hill 5-3 with goals from Matt Oakley, Ed Spencer, Richard Nicholas, Mark Handen and Andy Carberry. Their man of the match was Chris Moulson.

The thirds ended up on the wrong end of a 5-3 scoreline in their clash with Sale. Chester were level at 3-3 but they were caught on the break pushing for a winner and then conceded a fifth. Steven Hall, John Knight and Keith Roper scored Chester's goals.

In a high-scoring weekend for Chester, their fourths defeated South Cheshire 6-5.

Chester Ladies had the majority of the play against visitors Liverpool but still fell to a 3-1 defeat.

Trailing 3-0 at the break, Chester came out fighting after the break and pulled one back through Lucy Ratcliffe, who converted her first National League goal from an exceptional ball through from Lucy Hull.

Strong performances from Emma Harper and birthday girl Susie Twist kept Liverpool away from the home team's goal in the second period.

Chester Veterans travelled to Warwick to meet Khalsa in the quarter-finals of the National Vintage Cup but lost 2-1.
