IT was prize time at Cheshire Oaks High on Saturday as the West Cheshire AC Open Junior Cross Country Series ended.

Pupils from schools from within the Ellesmere Port, Chester, Halton, Frodsham and Wirral areas competed in the deciding round of the series, with medals being handed out to the winners.

Elijah Montez-Brown (St Saviour’s, Ellesmere Port) won the overall top prize in the Year 4 boys series, winning two races and finishing second at the final round with a time of five minutes 42 seconds.

Winner of the final round was Will Parsons, from Kingsley, who posted 5:29. Jack Johnston (St Saviour’s) finished third on the day with 5:48 to earn him runners-up spot overall, ahead of bronze award winner Ewen Buckley (Farndon) with a final round time of 5:57.

Oliver Thomas (Woodfall, Neston) won the top prize in the Year 5 boys series after finishing runner up in the final round with 8:40, behind Thomas Milburn (Farndon). Matthew Tute (Farndon) finished third in the final round to secure second place overall.

Farndon’s James Realff won the Year 6 prize after finishing second in the final round behind Great Sankey’s Liam Burthem, with Toby Palin (Waverton) in third spot and runner-up place overall, and Robert Rogers (Bishop Wilson, Neston) in third position overall.

Matthew Hulse (Helsby High) won the final round race in the Year 7 boys series, but the winner overall was Yousef Khalifa (Queen’s Park High, Chester).

Jenny Pyatt (St Luke’s, Frodsham) finished first in the final round and first overall in the Year 4 girls event, ahead of runner-up Dominika Sadczuk (St Saviour’s) who was second overall, and third-placed Eden Richardson (Merton House, Chester). Sophie Carter (Mill View, Chester) was third overall in the series.

Jess Wright (Lunts Heath, Widnes) completed a clean sweep of victories to claim the Year 5 girls award from Ffion Douglas and Emily Graham (both Farndon), who were second and third on the day and overall respectively.

Jessica Parsons (Kingsley) won all four of her Year 6 races to pocket top spot on the day and overall, ahead of second-placed Kate Merrill (Alvanley) on the day, and third-placed Sally Pickering (Meadow, Ellesmere Port). Jessica finished top overall ahead of Sally and third-placed Jessica Graham (Farndon).

Olivia Montez-Brown (Ellesmere Port Catholic High) won the final race in the series ahead of runner-up Emma Pyatt (St Nicholas, Northwich) and Emma Scott (Helsby) in third spot. Emma Pyatt pocketed the overall award, while Olivia finished runner-up, and Lucy Hickmott (Neston) secured the bronze award.
