THERE has been a change in captaincy at Ellesmere Port Cricket Club.
Long-serving skipper Gareth Boys has stepped down from the role to concentrate solely on playing.
His replacement is middle-order batsman Chris Gatrell.
It is the 29-year-old’s first shot stint as captain but he has been playing for his hometown club for a number of years.
Gatrell has made an impressive start to the job, leading Port into the Cheshire Alliance Division One promotion race.
But he suffered a setback on Saturday when his side suffered a 54-run defeat at fellow high flyers Sandbach.
