CREWE ladies rounded off their 2006/07 campaign with a flourish, hammering second-placed Winnington Park on Saturday.

Though third-placed Crewe were too far behind the visitors to leapfrog them at the start of play, captain Vicki Clark and her team still gave it their all in the North Feeder League West encounter.

Both teams played attacking hockey, making for attractive end-to-end action, but it was Crewe who made it pay first when Gilly Blythe dispatched a stunning shot after a short-corner.

Moments later, Dionne Johnson slotted home to double her side's advantage and, although Winnington pulled a goal back, strikes from Shez Tomkinson and Kim Jones made it 4-1 before the break.

It was goals galore in the second-half. Jones starred and capped a superb individual dis-play by completing her hat-trick, while Johnson got on the scoresheet again to complete the rout. Park got a couple of consolation strikes.

Crewe Men ended their North Division One campaign in fifth place, after Saturday's 3-1 reverse to Stockton.

With nothing left to play for in the league, captain James Capper and his men had one eye on this weekend's Harrods UK Men's Trophy semi-final in York.

Crewe 2nds have plenty to play for, and must now beat Carlisle in the final game after a disappointing defeat to Northop Hall 2nds.

For the second week running, Crewe surrendered a lead twice and finished on the losing side. Good work from Dave Johnson allowed Graham Cooke to stab home the opener.

It was 1-1 at the break but Vagrants hit the front again when Andrew Ticehurst's cross-shot to the back post was touched in by Paddy Leese. But Crewe sat back and were punished with two goals which leave them in real danger of rele gation.

Crewe 3rds won 3-2 at Northop 3rds to finish a comfortable sixth in their division, while the 4ths crushed Northop 4ths 12-0.
