SNOOKER & BILLIARDS: CORPORATION are feeling just champion!

A 5-2 win over Widnes Conservative Club B sealed the Division One title in the Widnes & District Billiards League.

Ian Woods, a 100-19 winner, and Shaun Cosgrove (100-36) were the powers behind the clinching success.

Farnworth A have done enough to finish runners-up despite a 4-3 defeat by defending champions Widnes Rec. Andy Grice won 100-37 in this one.

Widnes Conservative Club A lie third after a 4-3 win over Ford, masterminded by Mark Smith (100-52), Ged Connor (100-58) and Jimmy Gallagher (100-68).

Moorfield's 6-1 defeat of Simms Cross B featured a star display from Peter Knight (100-32).

United Services B beat their own A team, helped by T Melvin's 100-52, while league secretary Eddie McNicholas (100-27) was the mainstay of Simms Cross A's 4-3 win over Widnes Bowling Club.

In the Widnes & District Snooker League, Lee Thomas posted a 45 clearance for the leaders RAOB A.

His effort eased the Buffs towards a 7-2 win over Widnes Rec A.

Shaun Cosgrove (81-31) and Frank Pennington (72-33) were the other prime movers.

Corporation, in second, nailed a 6-3 win over St Joseph's with Ste Rawlinson's 92-8 victory including a 44 break. Ian Woods, meanwhile, enjoyed an 87-33 success.

Village A, in third, were 5-4 winners over fourth-placed St Basil's A. Mark King (100-15, including a 34 break) did most of the damage.

Alan Dunn (71-26) and Ray Jones (69-36) responded for St Basil's.

Farnworth A, fighting against relegation, did their cause no harm with an 8-1 victory over struggling Rain-hill, with John Chamberlain's 73-36 win emphasising the difference between the sides.

A 7-2 defeat of Hough Green Social Club A leaves Simms Cross A second, and they were most indebted to Jimmy Finn (81-42).

Ford B's 6-3 success over Ford A was dominated by Ken Metcalfe's 74-35 win.

In Division Three, Paul Bradburne came up with a 33 break in a 75-26 frame, which helped Moorfield B to see off Eccleston A 7-2.

Pavilions B top Division Four, despite going down 6-3 to Simms Cross C. The Widnesians' heroes were R Leather (61-23), W Murnane (67-32) and K Johnson (60-44).

Widnes Cricket Club B's 6-3 win over Widnes Conservative Club C included G Soul (52-48) and N Hunt (47-35) wins.

RAOB C, lying second in Division Five, trounced Farn-worth C 7-2 with M Dicks (69-36), A Shingler (65-39) and W Raley (63-40) in fine form.
