SWIMMING: Three City of Chester club swimmers collected 13 medals at the Welsh National Short Course Age Group Championships.

Matt Humphreys, 13, took the gold medal in the 200m breast-stroke and 400m freestyle races and added silvers in the 200m and 400m individual medley, 200m butterfly and 200m free-style and narrowly missed out on bronze in the 100m butterfly and 100m breaststroke.

Thirteen-year-old Olivia Moxon's brilliant performance in the 200m breaststroke was rewarded with a gold medal and she added bronze in the 200m individual medley and three fourth places in the 800m, 400m and 200m freestyle.

Amy Haycocks, 12, had a golden double in the 100m and 200m backstroke finals and added silver in the 200m individual medley and bronze in the 200m and 400m freestyle. She also grabbed fifth place in the 800m freestyle.

The City of Chester club had three winners at the Southport Masters sprint meet on Saturday.

Greg Banham won the 30-34 age group and Tom and Brenda Walker won their 65-69 groups. There were personal bests from Peter Hawkins, Helen Watterson, Collette Hayes, Tony Fields and Derek Paddock.
