TABLE TENNIS: POST Office A retained their six-point lead at the top of Division One of the Crewe and District League following a 7-3 defeat of Post Office D.

John Ibbs hit a maximum for the A team with Bernard Thorley winning two while the D side's Mike Phelan took two sets as well.

Bentley Blades drafted in two reserves from their Second Division side to play Bombardier and also produced a 7-3 result with Kevin Foster and John Betteley winning all their singles and the doubles.

Post E have pushed Post F off the top of Division Two after picking up 19 points from two matches.

Sean Devaney, Mel Green and John Stewart took all 10 sets against Brine Leas A, then Green collected another maximum against Bentley Boys with Ray Stafford also winning three and Stewart two in a 9-1 success.

There were three wins each for Matthew Chantry and Lee Rickard as Post G defeated Brine Leas B 7-3, but the advance of Post E meant that Post G still slipped a place to third.

The previously postponed match between Brine Leas's A and B teams ended in a draw with Nathan Dean scoring a treble for the A side and Tracy Tomkinson and Oliver Burney winning two each in reply.
