MORE than £7,500 was raised when Brookfield GC captains Mick Moss and Rhona Aston held their annual charity day.

The North West Air Ambulance will benefit from the event, which saw 27 teams enter a competition. Winners of the men's contest were Steve Longson, Mick Breeze, Mark Davenport and Tony Percival.

Ladies victors were Dee Reynolds, Fliss Moss, Vicki Mills and Wendy Mitchell, while the mixed champions were Janet Heler, Jane Lanni, Wendy Neville and Andy Lloyd.

An auction and raffle followed, while Casino provided live musical entertainment. A club spokesman said: 'To raise more than £7,500 in one day is great. Thanks to our main sponsors EWS Railways, and the 28 other companies who sponsors off various tees and greens.' At Alvaston Hall GC, the annual Captain's Putter Competition was won by Barrie Taylor (75-20=55), with Brian Foster (75-18=57) and Nick Morrey (68-9=58) in second and third.

The Junior Captain's Putter contest was won by Peter Williams (86-29=57), with Tom Gee (93-29=64) and Kieran O'Connor (96-29=67) making up the podium positions. Captain Clive Cope-man presented the prizes.

At the club's monthly medal competition, Alex Cliff won the Division One prize with nett 49, Dave Long (nett 54) won in Division Two.

At Crewe GC, the Guy Harvey Trophy for ladies was lifted by Rosemary Lowe, with Sue Cornelius runner-up. Anne Bate won the Mary Robinson Trophy ahead of Judith Medley.

At Queen's Park GC, Paul Ladley (71-11=60) won the Dave Capper Memorial Trophy, with Steve Thompson (67-5=62) in second place. The winner of the Midweek Strokeplay was Cliff Young (85-21=64), pipping Dennis Hill (78-13=65).
