Sports teams from Christleton High School have achieved success at national and county levels.

The school’s under 15s netball team capped an excellent year by being crowned Cheshire champions in Ellesmere Port.

Christleton defeated Wilmslow, Lymm and King’s of Macclesfield before facing The King’s School (Chester).

The match finished 7-7 – meaning both sides were level in the league standings, with an identical points tally and goal difference. So for the first time, the county title ended up being shared between two schools.

Meanwhile, Christleton’s U12s netball team are having an exciting first season and are in with a chance of winning the National School Cup.

The girls have faced tough tests so far, especially the semi-final against Bedford School for Girls when the Chester school ran out 37-26 winners.

Christleton now face Godolphin and Latymer School on March 25 in the final, which will be staged at Wellsway School, Bristol. The squad comprises: Alice Watkinson, Emily Bolton, Emily Roberts, Hannah Ritson, Charlotte Parkinson, Tamsin O’Keefe, Raimi Harrison and Georgia Stuart.

In football, Christleton’s U12s were runners up in the English Schools FA national five-a-side competition. To make it to the national final they had to win the district, county and regional competitions, which they did with some very impressive performances from Hannah Snape, Jess Graham and Hannah Ritson.

The national final was held at Derby Powerleague Centre. The girls lost their first group game against Queen Elizabeth High School from Lincoln, but went on to qualify for the semi-finals with good results against Hounsdown School (Southampton) and Oriel High School (Sussex), due to great performances from Maisy Doyle, Nung Sirisot and Raimi Harrison.

In the semi final the girls faced Macmillan Academy (Middlesbrough). A great goal from Harriet Lambert and another from Hannah Snape sealed victory and secured a place in the final where they would face Queen Elizabeth High School again. The girls took an early lead but could not hang on and lost the final 3-1.

Christleton's under 14s netball squad are also through to the national finals after coming through the county and North West rounds.
