SWIMMING: MORE than 30 swimmers from the City of Chester Club travelled to Macclesfield for the second round of the Deva League, having finished in third place after the opening round.

In the boys Under 11s section, Reuben McCormack, James Feazell, Ben Jones and Richard Lewis-Williams took first place in the 4x1 length medley relay.

In the individual events James came away with another first in the 50m freestyle. Swimming in the same age group for girls were Ashlea Allen, Lucy Stephenson, Emily Kelly, Paula Clethro and Emily Jervis. The girls swam to a very close third in the medley relay with Emily Kelly gaining another third place in the 50m backstroke. Ashlea swam well in the 50m fly and breaststroke.

In the U13 boys, Chris Williams gained a second place in the 50m backstroke.

Teammate Leo McCormack swam to third place in the 50m freestyle. They were joined by Mike Ford and Jon Armstrong to take second place in the medley relay. Charlotte Gillies, Emily Grader, Alice Little and Holly McCann also raced to second place in their medley relay. Charlotte was placed third in the 50m breast and Alice secured second in the 50m fly.

James Welch and Adam Bubb, swimming in the U15s age group, both gained third position in the 50m fly and 50m free and Jack Quinn took second place in the 50m back. Elliott Needham joined the boys to come third in the medley relay. Swimming well in the girls medley relay team were Lauren Colville, Elly Hudson, Gill Bentley and Siobhan Barnard.

In the open events (16 and over), both Liam Allen and Matt Humphries were swimming above their age group and swam extremely well to both take third place in the 50m free and 50m fly. Jason Boylan swam to victory twice in the 100m individual medley and the 100m back. Their medley relay team of Jason, Matt, Liam and Adam Boylan fought hard to come home in third place.

In the girls open events (16 and over), Chester swimmer Olivia Moxon fought hard to take a very good first place in the 100m breast and second in the 100m individual medley. Gemma Clethro finished first in the 100m fly and gaining second position in the 100m free. Olivia and Gemma were joined by Alice Little and Alice Howarth to finish third in the medley relay.

Other events on the night were mixed relays where teams of four boys and four girls each had to swim 25m freestyle. The boys and girls in the U11 age group - Paula, Emily, Lucy, Emily, James, Reuben, Richard and Ben - swam really well to take second place. The last event of the evening was the open mixed relay, with three boys and three girls each swimming 50m freestyle. Jason, Matt & Adam, and Gemma, Olivia and Siobhan finished with an excellent second place

Chester finished in third place overall to round off a very good night.
