Rugby league club Chester Gladiators are hosting a free taster session for children aged 6-15 on Sunday, February 21.
Open to boys and girls, the 90-minute session takes place at The Cheshire County Sports Club from 10am to 11.30am.
Youngsters will get the chance to try the sport and parents will have an opportunity to find out more about the club and rugby league.
Formed in 2008, the Gladiators will be running teams for U7s, U8s, U9s and U11s this season, and hope to have games for U13s and U15s too.
During the taster session children will take part in drills covering a range of skills and games with club coaches and first team players. All of the club's coaches are UKCC qualified and DBS checked.
Paul Foster, club development officer for Chester Gladiators, hopes the free taster will encourage more children to take up the sport with the club.
He said: "We're committed to giving as many youngsters as possible the chance to try rugby league without parents worrying about costs and commitment.
"Previous rugby experience is not needed and the taster is completely free. If your children enjoy rugby at school, are looking to take up a new sport or switch codes then this is the perfect chance to experience rugby league.
"It's also an opportunity for parents to meet the coaches and ask any questions they may have about the club or the sport.
"Last season we ran two teams in the North West Counties League and that has doubled to four for 2016 with plans to keep on growing.
"We have a good base of players but we are looking to add to that at all age groups and those children interesting in playing for us will be able to register on the day."
The taster session is completely free of charge but parents are asked to register places in advance on 07512 355396 (call or text), via email to email@example.com or on Twitter @gladiatorsrl.
