ATHLETICS: SEVERAL West Cheshire AC members grabbed awards at the weekend as juniors successfully negotiated the final round of the North Staffs Cross Country League at Leek.
Charlotte Roach finished the four-round series of races in pole position and collected the gold medal.
The Christleton High School pupil won the U17s race and finished the campaign at the top of her age category.
Rebecca Grimes was another member celebrating success on the day in the U15s as the Whitby High School pupil secured second position overall and a silver medal.
Bradley Edwards completed a successful season in the North Staffs League by finishing second on the day and second overall in the boys' U11s.
Georgina Wright competed in the U13 girls' race and finished fifth on the day but third overall to collect a bronze medal.
Kerry Riley was the other WCAC junior in action, finishing fourth on the day while Mary Radford finishing 78th in the ladies race.
Attention returns to WCAC's Open Junior Cross Country Race Series on Saturday at Whitby Park (10am) for the third of the four-round series.
The action begins with an U9s race at 10am, followed by races for U11s, U13s, and U15s.
Entry is 50p on the day and entries will be taken from 9.30am.
Other fixtures this weekend include the Welsh Inter-Region and Masters Cross Country Champion-ships, at Wrexham, on Saturday, and the Hale Village Five Miles Road Race near Speke, Liverpool, on Sunday.
The West Cheshire AC committee were re-elected at the club's AGM and Dan Gilroy remains secretary, Graham Jenkins is treasurer, and Dennis Wall is chairman.
Entries are now being accepted for the Cheshire County AA Annual Cross Country Championships, being held at Knights Grange Sports Complex, Winsford, on Saturday, January 15, (11.30am) with the closing date January 8.
However, entries have closed for the Chester Round The Walls Race on Boxing Day as the entry limit has been reached.
