FRED Backhouse took the Northwich League Division One singles title for the second year running and a record seventh time overall, after a decisive 4-0 victory over Owley Wood's Shaun Brearley.

It was a superb and extr aordinary performance by Rudheath's Backhouse, who did not drop a single frame throughout the entire competition.

Second Division singles winner Dean Mogford made an eight-ball break as he cruised to a 4-0 success over Bowling Green's Chris Webb.

Tony Little became the first winner of the new Third Division singles knockout, as he comprehensively beat Lion & Railway teammate Dave Hornby 4-0 in the final.

In the Division Three doubles final, Hornby made amends as he and Jimmy Gibson beat Alan Brace and Mike Whitlow (Beech Tree) 4-3.

Meanwhile, Hartford B lifted the Supplementary Shield, defeating Winnington Lodge 4-2 after trailing 2-3.

In the final fixture of the season tonight (Wednesday), Division Two winners Bowling Green A take on league champions Rudheath in the Team Knockout Cup final at Owley Wood.
