TABLE TENNIS: The Chester and Ellesmere Port League is into its second week and the standard of table tennis is very high with some excellent games.

In Division One, Pulford B played Castrol A in a hard-fought game, with Pulford B going down 7-3, Steve Clift and Paul Durvoha winning three games each for Castrol A.

Whitby A proved too strong for County Officers A, beating them 10-0. Whitby C took on their B side and went down 8-2.

Steve Colclough and Stephanie Howard won all their singles for Whitby B. Probably the best game of the week was between Great Barrow and Pulford A. Great Barrow were leading at one stage 5-1, but a spirited fight back by Pulford A resulted in a 5-5 draw, with John Ashbrook winning all his games for Pulford A.

In Division Two County Officers B beat Tarporley 8-2, with Andrew Huddart and David Fisher winning all their singles for the Officers. Robin Ackerley won the one single for Tarporley. Saughall and Vauxhall fought out a 5-5 draw with newcomer Sam Stevens winning his three singles for Saughall. Sam also won his three games for Saughall when they played away at Tarporley, beating them 8-2. Castrol B were too strong for Barrow B beating them 8-2. Barry Hough and John Rowland won all their matches for Castrol. Martin Dodd won the only single for Barrow B.

Whitby D took on Castrol C with Whitby winning the match 8-2. Steve Colclough won all his singles for Whitby D.

In Division Three, Northgate Arena were no match for Electric A who beat them 10-0. Pulford C lost out to Barrow D 7-3. Tim Watts won all his single matches for Barrow D and Bill Jones won 2 for Pulford C.
