CARL van Schie charged to a personal-best points total at the South of England Combined Events Championships in Bedford.
The multi-talented West Cheshire AC member grabbed bests in the 400m (52.06), 110m hurdles (16.58), and 1500m (4:44.61), to compile a new best grade one points total of 5,736, an improvement of 172 points since his previous appearance.
It was enough for Carl, of Mickle Trafford, to finish seventh overall.
Ellesmere Port-based Nicola Gore represented the North of England at the Inter Area Match held at Derby and finished second in the U23 discus competition with a best throw of 34.34m.
West Cheshire AC's distance runners, meanwhile, are preparing for a busy time next month.
They will be competing in cross country, road race fixtures, and a county road relay championships.
One of the most popular series of fixtures is scheduled to take place over four Tuesday evenings in September.
The Wirral Off Road Multi-Terrain Race Series attract a cross-section of runners interested in a range of distances.
The fixtures act as preparation for the cross country season which comes under starter's orders next month.
Royden Country Park is the first venue of the multi-terrain series which will be held on September 5, (7pm start).
The series moves to Wallasey on September 12 (7pm start), before Ellesmere Port Running Club host round three at Rivacre Valley Country Park, on September 19 (6.30pm start).
The competition ends on September 26, at Arrowe Park, Birkenhead (6.30pm start).
September also signals the conclusion of an extremely busy track-and-field season for West Cheshire which has resulted in promotion for the Young Athletes League squad and consolidation in Division Two West for the Northern League seniors squad.
West Cheshire's home track at Stanney, Ellesmere Port, will host the final round of the Cheshire Track and Field League on Sunday, September 3.
The Lake Vyrnwy Half Marathon will attract a number of West Cheshire AC distance runners searching for new personal bests on September 10.
Stockport's Woodbank Park is the venue for the North West Road Relay Championships, incorporating the Cheshire Championships, to be held on Saturday, September 16.
West Cheshire are aiming to be represented by a range of different age group teams from U13 boys and girls through to seniors.
September concludes with West Cheshire AC hosting the popular Sutton Six 10k Road Race, at Guilden Sutton, near Chester, on September 24.
And West Cheshire AC members may be wanting to taste the first cross country fixture of the season when it gets underway in the North Wales League series on Saturday, September 30, at Colwyn Bay.
