ANGLING: IAN Buckley scored another double to win the Meadow Bank matches.

Very much the Weaver's form angler, Buckley won the Thursday fixture with 11-10-0 and the Saturday outing with 11-3-0.

Steve Mottershead 10-10-10, Larry Bates 6-7-0, Keith Smith 9-14-0 and Mike Smith 6-6-0 were second and third on the respective days.

The Northwich Open is building up its numbers at last. There were 42 rods bankside on Saturday, still a far cry from attendances of just a few years back, but an improvement on recent turnouts.

Winner was Darren Taylor (Saints) with 17-3-0 of squatt skimmers and roach off peg 336. Runner-up was Dave Evans (TriCast) with an all-roach 16-12-0 off 363. Derek Bennett (Saints) 16-12-0 and Bob Meggs 15-7-0 framed.

Sunday's Open pulled in 33 anglers. Stuart Wardle (Tricast) did best, his 14-14-0 topping Scott Preston (Lostock TB) 14-9-0, Derek Bibby (Warrington) 14-8-0 and Graham Taylor (LTB) 12-6-0.

The third round of the Northwich AA junior festival was fished on Wednesday and the Weaver continued to fish well for the youngsters, leaving the overall positions close for the final match today.

Danny Griffiths won on the day with 7-10-0, closely followed by Danny Leveridge with 6-4-8 and the final podium place going to Liam Wright 6-1-8

The overall leaders for the Sam Hamlett Cup are now separated by just one ounce - Griffiths 16-12-0 followed by Wright on 16-11-0 with on 14-8-8.

Ray Thompson led Rudheath-BG's Flash match at the Sailing Club all the way. He finished with 17-14-0, Mike King with 15-13-0 and Frank Slater 14-5-0.

Mike Cowley heaved 26-4-0 off peg 38 on to the scales at the Winsford Veterans match to beat Harold Jones 20-12-0, Ted Isherwood 17-4-0 and Doug Maddock 11-8-0.

Hemp on pole was the match winner for Eric Moore, 9-1-0, at D Anglers on the National length. He drew 76 and Gerald Littler 85, where he had 5-14-0.
