TEAMS from the Chester area are continuing to set the trend in the North Wales Winter League.

In Sunday's match on the new pools at the Cudmore Fishery, Alan Bruce of Rod 'n' Reel won with carp to weigh 72-3-0, supported by Andy Amos in third with 55-3-0 of carp. Jamie Hughes reeled in fifth place for Chester Tackle Locker with 39-12-0.

On the day, Rod 'n' Reel were joint first with Chester Tackle Locker in third. This now puts Rod 'n' Reel clear overall leaders followed by Chester Tackle Locker in joint second.

The Fisherman's Tackle team finished in 10th position last Sunday and are placed 10th overall in the Heronbrook Winter League. Their top weighers were Phil Henry on 26-7-0 of carp, backed up by Colin Cooke on 25-4-0 and Steve Carrier as section winner with 24-4-0.

Ron Evans set the pace in the Grosvenor Estate AC match on a private brook at Aldford. He took very small fish to weigh 14-0.

Castrol SAS went wreck-fishing last Sunday out of Aberdovey. Top rod of the day was Jim Fellows who took a 10-0-0 pollock to a jelly worm.

Mick Lawson bagged first in the Royal Mail/Chester AC match on the Lake of Tranquility, Leeswood, taking carp to weigh 22-10-0.

Geoff Selby included 3-12-0 of bream in his winning catch in the Lobol AC match on the River Weaver at Hulse's Island with 10-1-0 of roach.

Alan Jones won the Malpas AC match on Woodside pool with 17-7-0 of carp and roach.

Gavin Lloyd and Brian Williams shared first place in the Saltney Social match on the Milton Green Fishery. Both took small carp to weigh 2-4-0.

Dave Stewart won the Rake and Pikel AC match on the Border Fishery by netting 66-0-0 of carp.

Nobody could catch Andrew Griffin in the St Theresa's AC match on the Lingmere Fishery. A carp and chub mix gave him 59-10-0 and the lead.

Robbie Woods won the midweek match on the Burton Mere Fishery. Fished on their Beech pool, Woods took carp to weigh 66-0-0.

Phil Philby took the Meadow Silver Plate for winning the Mickle Trafford AC match on the Meadow Fishery. His single rainbow trout weighing 8-6-0 fell to a daddy longlegs.

Chris Hanogan led the way in the Wednesday open match on the Tarvin Sands Fishery with 14-0-0 of carp and bream. First home in the venue's Saturday match was Rolf Purviss having carp and silver fish for 48-12-0.

Graham Aveyard was top rod in the Wirral Borough Council AC match at the Border Fishery with 25-12-0 of carp, chub and barbel.

Steve Balsom claimed first in the Thursday match held on the Lingmere Fishery with a carp-based 35-0-0. Dave Randles senior netted top spot in the Saturday match with a mixed 61-10-0.
