MOTOR SPORT: TEAM Founds are back in action at the Isle of Man TT this afternoon following a five-year absence.

Competing in the Sidecar B race, youngest brother Alan of Little Neston completes the Founds set on the Manx circuit, following in the footsteps of siblings Chris and Pete as passenger.

Des Founds, team manager, said: 'All the boys will have been a passenger at the Isle of Man, and I think that this stands them in good stead if they want to return as drivers in their own right. This will be invaluable experience for Alan and it was important for him to gain track knowledge of the infamous TT Mountain circuit.'

Alan joins Kidderminster's Bruce Moore, 39, a veteran of 12 TT races, whose best on the island was a 12th-place finish.

Bruce's first visit was under completely different circumstances when he competed at the Isle of Man Kart Grand Prix, around the street circuit in Peel.

He said: 'It would be great if we could finish in the top 20 as I am a bit rusty having not raced for over a year.'

Team Founds are competing on a 600cc Ireson Yamaha and were 28th and 30th in qualifying, in 23:25.74 and 23:04.92.

The past couple of years have seen Team Founds concentrating on the Superside World Championship and the Eastern Airways British Championships with a Formula One LCR R1 Yamaha.

This season will see a partial return to F2 racing with both Pete and Alan driving their own F2 outfits later in the year, to mark the start of new three-bike team.

Pete and Alan will initially concentrate on local championships at Oulton Park, Aintree and Ty-Croes in Angelsey.

Chris has decided to consolidate this year and develop the LCR and Yamaha engines before a return to the British and World Championships in 2006.
