ALSAGER biker Carl Salvage is preparing for an all-out assault on the 250cc British Championship which kicks off at Brands Hatch next month.

Carl, on his new TZ 250 Yamaha, hopes to have a better season than last year when he was blighted with technical problems and aims to compete in as many of the British Championship meetings as possible.

The 35-year-old is also targeting wins at the Ace of Ain-tree 250 & 350 Championships and further meetings at Oulton Park.

Carl, of Valley Close, said: 'We are starting our season at Silverstone on Sunday to make sure we are prepared for the first British Championship meeting on April 15 at Brands Hatch where there will be 60 riders trying to qualify for 32 places on the starting grid.

'I had some ignition problems with the bike I used last season so with my new machine I'll be giving 100% towards a much better year.'

Carl, now sponsored by Time For You Domestic Cleaning, says he is fired up for this year's championships. He started in 1989 when he rode a 125cc Yamaha in the ACU Ministock champion-ship, finishing in fourth place.

He was then supplied with a bike and spares budget by Kawasaki UK in the British Supersport 400 Champion-ship for 1990.

In 1991, Carl rode a 250cc grand prix machine for the first time and has been riding similar machines since. He has won various club championships and also lap and race records at Aintree and Donington Park.

Carl has had many top 10 finishes in various international events in England, Ireland, Scotland and Holland.
