VAUXHALL Motors ABC have their first national champion of the season in Alex Foulkes.

The flyweight travelled to the historic boxing venue York Hall in Bethnal Green to take on Broad Street’s Dean Watson in his own back yard.

Watson, 25, had eight years on his young opponent, but Foulkes had the speed and technique to sail through the first two rounds.

Realising he was behind and desperate, Watson resorted to trying to roughhouse Foulkes to the ground, but the Motors fighter, who is a sparring partner for the explosive Olympic hopeful Paul Butler, was not intimidated and boxed clever in the last to win 6-3 on points.
