JOHN Bowles won the battle of the big guns on the Halton Stadium card in Widnes & District Darts League's Cheshire Roof Trusses 501 Individuals second round.
Bowles produced two 21-dart finishes to oust Brian Dutton, who had won through to the final with legs of 18 and 17 in a 2-1 victory against Stuart Bousfield.
In the card semi-final, Bowles had over-come Ged Price in two straight legs.
At the Buffs, Alan Moran negotiated his first game with a bye but fell 2-0 in the final to Barry Stanners.
Alan Clark, playing at the Bowler, had a free passage to the card final where he accounted for Darren Grant, a 2-0 winner over Brian Palmer in his earlier match.
Mill Brow was home territory for Chris Bright, who accounted for Joe Price before falling to Jason Haddock.
Haddock followed up an 18 darter in his 2-0 defeat of Bing Gray with a 15-dart finish in the card final against Bright.
In the Karalius Bros RTB Weekly News Individuals second-round matches Alan Magee qualified from the Stadium.
Having gone out in 13 darts during a straight-games defeat of Eric Peel, he shot a 19 darter to break the back of Dave Batty's resistance for another 2-0 win.
John Bowles defeated Eddie Waterworth 2-0 to go through from Mill Brow. The winner had already eliminated Dave Houghton with two 18-dart games while Waterworth had hit an 18 darter in his card semi-final victory over Barry Stanners.
Barry Shanahan and Andy McIntosh in turn fell foul of card winner Darren Grant at the Buffs with Grant having a 13-dart leg against Shanahan.
