EQUESTRIANISM: TOP horses and riders will be on the Roodee this weekend with the return of the Chester International Horse Show.

The three-day event, which starts today, is a showcase of the best of British showjumping, all taking place in three arenas.

The entry list is a who's who of the sport, including household names like Robert Smith, eldest son of showjumping legend Harvey, John Whittaker, an Olympic silver medallist, brother Michael, William Funnell and Liz Edgar, sister of David Broome and wife of Ted Edgar, former leading rider and now an influential trainer.

Others in the entry list include Andrew Davies, Di Lampard, Mark Armstrong and Tim Stockdale.

Several events are scheduled for each day with the action starting at 11am and finishing about 7.30pm.

As well as the showjumping action there will be family entertainments, a creative crafts marquee, traditional craft fair, trade stands and refreshments.

Admission is £5 for adults and £2.50 for children and car parking is free.
