WEST Bank Bears celebrated the season at open age and U18s level at a presentation night on Friday.

The campaign just ended saw Bears fielded an U18s side for the first time.

Coach Ricky Hughes emphasised what a big step forward this was for the club.

He praised the contributions of Martin Murphy and David Jones in bringing the formation of the team to fr uition.

Both players received the clubman award in recognition.

The players' PoY went to David Jones with Martin Murphy runner-up and Luke Nation in third place.

Opposition PoY was also awarded to Jones. Matty Bradshaw was runner up and Nation again in third spot.

For the open-age section, secretary Paul Farrell commented although the season had been a little disappointing, the potential within the team remained high - adding that with a high turnover of players perhaps the development of team spirit was a short-term priority.

Clubman of the year was awarded to newcomer Ben Liddell and top try scorer was Ste Curphey.

Players' PoY went to another newcomer Graham Dunne. Runner up was Mark Ryan with Gary Kelly in third place.

The player-of-the-year award was handed to Ste Curphey with Graham Dunne in second place and Peter Clarke third.

A final presentation was made to Chris Nuttie in recognition of ten years' service to the club.
