JETS’ junior teams tipped-off the season with some fine performances.
Now playing out of Stanney Oaks Leisure Centre rather than the Hub, the club’s under 15 boys clocked up a 55-44 victory over Trafford, who play out of the Manchester Magic club.
A strong second and third quarter saw the Jets go into the fourth with a 15-point lead. Adam Jones led all scorers on 23, supported by Jordan Smith (nine) and Matt Brennan (six).
The Jets’ U16 girls defeated and young and inexperienced Hatfield side from Doncaster 73-25. Katie Williams (19), Mikaela Johnston (12), Megan Bowen (11) and Sidnee Reddy (11) led the scoring.
The only defeat of the day was sustained by Jets’ women’s team, who went down 67-55 to Mansfield Giants.
A late rally failed to turn the match around for Jets, whose top-scorers were Amy Bowen (20), Holly McVitty (18) and Alleana Reddy (16).
