JETS’ under 13 boys tipped off their campaign with a comprehensive victory in a three-team competition.

The Ellesmere Port-based outfit, formerly known as the Panthers, opened up with a 59-25 win over Hull and East Riding, Zak Baird top-scoring with 19 points.

Hull and East Riding then took on York for the right to face the Jets in the decider – and York won it 33-30.

The final was a one-sided affair, with Jets running out 90-29 winners. Lewis Halpin led all scorers with 22, with Baird hitting 19 and Jake Cooke 14.

Jets’ U16s went down 83-69 to Sheffield in the North Premier League, despite a strong performance from Dave Thomas who hit 19 points and made 10 rebounds.

Jets U15s lost 85-50 at Stockport, but the U18s gained a measure of revenge by beating the same club 70-65. James Gardner, with 27 points, was well supported by Ali Moore (16) and Sam Craige (9).

Jets’ women lost 81-44 in the National Cup to a Leeds Carnegie side packed with international players from England, Hungary, Germany and Slovenia. Holly McVitty led all scorers with 13.
