THE Leedham sisters were unable to inspire Britain to victory in the World University Games basketball quarter-finals.
Little Sutton duo Jennifer and Johannah are both in the Great Britain University side in Serbia for the games, and they reached the quarter final stage last Friday after beating France 80-56.
Johannah led the way with 18 points, as she has throughout the competition in Belgrade.
She is ranked third at the World University Games, scoring at 21.3 points per game and making three steals per game.
She shares the tournament lead for three-pointers with 2.8 per contest.
But in their first game in the quarters, against USA, GB lost 93-59 and game two against the Czechs also ended in defeat, as Britain lost 89-83.
As the Pioneer went to press last night, GB were aiming to beat Poland to make the 5th/6th place playoff.
Both Johannah, 21, and Jennifer, 23 ply their trade in the US at New Hampshire’s Franklin Pierce College.
Former Ellesmere Port Panthers, Johannah continues to break records on the court while Jennifer, who recently graduated, is now assistant coach for the women’s basketball team.
Johannah has also been selected for the Northeast-10 Conference winter college season all-academic team.
To be eligible, athletes must have good grades and achieve high standards in their sport.
