WEST Cheshire AC’s under 11 boys and girls squads grabbed glory at the second round of the Cheshire Track and Field League at Ashton- under-Lyne.
The boys who tasted success included Conor Rowbottom (75m, 600m and long jump), Thomas Harrop (75m, 600m and javelin), Lewis Sconce (javelin), Elijah Montez-Brown (long jump) and Matthew Bate (75m).
And the girls who posted victories included Georgia Barlow (75m and long jump), Sophie Baker (javelin), Toni Lammond (600m) and Rosie Webber (75m).
The 4x100m relay team of Baker, Barlow, Lammond and Webber then powered their way to an easy win in 65.9 seconds. The boys team of Montez-Brown, Bate, Harrop and Rowbottom were just beaten on the line.
West Cheshire’s men’s and women’s teams were both second, behind host club East Cheshire.
Alan Littler was the only West Cheshire athlete in the senior men’s competition, finishing fourth in the 200m and 1,500m and third in the long jump and discus.
Senior ladies Niamh Riley and Emily Clarke took first place in both the A and B shot put and both ladies competed in the high jump, 200m and 1,500m, with Danielle Erskine winning the B 200m race.
Michael Bailiff produced a superb grade one leap of 1.70m in the U15 boys high jump event.
Yousef Khalifa and newcomer Charlie Thomas were second in the A and B shot put competition, while Joel Langmead won the C 800m event. The boys combined to finish second in the 4x100m relay.
Michael Williams won the U17 men shot, winning the event with a put of 10.47m.
For the U15 girls, Olivia Montez-Brown demonstrated her growing reputation as a long jumper by leaping to victory, with Kelly Baker – fresh from the English Schools event at Sheffield – backing her up in the B event.
Emma Johnson and Lauren Darch took part in the javelin. The girls were second in the 4x100m relay.
James McMahon leapt to a new personal best performance in the U13 boys long jump competition, with team-mates Chris Harrop and Daniel Vickers winning in the 75m series of races and Matthew Pagan winning the C race in the 1,500m series.
Matthew took the B long jump and Daniel and Chris took part in the discus.
