Three athletes from West Cheshire AC are celebrating regional title victories.

Emily Ball, Sophie Percival and Matthew Pagan produced gold medal winning performances at Birmingham and Liverpool.

Ball travelled to Birmingham’s Alexander Stadium for the Midlands Under 17 Championships and achieved gold medal displays in the discus (33.21m) and shot put (10.29m). She was presented with a silver salver for her grade one distance in the shot, and a large wooden plaque.

Percival and Pagan travelled to Wavertree, Liverpool, for the Northern U15 and U17 Championships.

Percival launched the U17 women’s javelin to a personal best distance of 37.47m to claim the title.

Pagan, returning to action after an injury, was crowned Northern U17 men’s 400m champion after clocking a new personal best time of 49.63m.

Other West Cheshire AC members in action included Charlotte Williamson, and brother and sister Zack and Alice Barnsley.

Williamson finished fourth in the U17 women’s 80m hurdles final with 12.50 seconds and was 11th in the U17 women’s long jump with 4.79m.

Zack Barnsley finished fourth in the U17 men’s 100m final in 11.63 seconds and was eighth in the long jump with 5.99m.

Alice Barnsley was sixth in her U15 girls 100m heat in 14.0 seconds and sixth in her 200m heat with 29.23.

Rob Little was the first West Cheshire AC finisher at the Birchwood 10k road race.

Little clocked 38 minutes eight seconds to finish 50th, ahead of club colleagues Steve Hillier (91st in 39:49), Rob Freeman (93rd in 39:58), Luke Ellis (107th in 40:33), Dave Hough (224th in 45:51), Mark Povey (359th in 50:04), and Stephen Howarth (470th in 53:36).

Christian Okeke represented West Cheshire AC at the Trafford Grand Prix Open Meeting where he posted 11.81 seconds in the men’s 100m.

West Cheshire AC member Su Baird is providing a talk about nutrition to club members, parents and club officials at Stanney Oaks Leisure Centre tomorrow (August 22), from 8pm.

Fixtures this weekend include the CAU Inter Counties Championships at Bedford on Saturday.
