DAVE Alexander was ninth home for Cheshire in the senior men’s race at the UK Inter Counties Cross Country Championships.

The West Cheshire AC distance runner posted 41 minutes 35 seconds for 207th position at Birmingham’s Cofton Park, behind eventual race winner and Great Britain international Mo Farah.

West Cheshire’s Chris Goodwin secured a time of 21:49 for 207th position in the under 17 men’s race.

Grace O’Rourke finished 212th with a time of 34:54 in the senior ladies race, and Amy Hinchly completed the U13 girls event in 199th position after posting a time of 12:57.

Entries are still being accepted for the Chester Spring Five Miles Road Race being organised by West Cheshire AC at Upton, Chester, on Wednesday, April 7.

Fixtures this weekend include the final round in the series of West Cheshire AC Open Schools Cross Country Races at Stanney Oaks, Ellesmere Port, on Saturday (10am).

The English Schools' Cross Country Championships will be held on Saturday, at Heaton Park, Manchester.

West Cheshire AC will be hosting a throws skills training session at Stanney Oaks on Sunday (11am-2.30pm). There is a cost of £1.20 for children, and £2.40 for adults.

Entries for the Shell Chester Half Marathon on Sunday, May 16, have now closed as the entry limit of 2,800 runners has been reached.
