Four West Cheshire AC youngsters pulled on county vests to represent Cheshire in Hull.

Georgia Barlow, Zac Barnsley, Zac Holland and Alice Barnsley took part in the Inter Counties Track and Field Championships match at the Costello Stadium.

Barlow matched her 100m (12.9 seconds) and 200m (26.5) personal bests to clock the fifth best time overall in both events, and also anchored the girls sprint relay team to second place.

Zac Barnsley blasted his way to 11.2 seconds in the 100m, achieved 5.77m in the long jump, and contributed towards the medley relay team’s second placed finish.

Holland, making his Cheshire debut, rounded the 1,500m in a new personal best time of four minutes 19.82 seconds. Alice Barnsley completed the 75m hurdles in 13.62 seconds and long jumped 4.19m, to earn Cheshire joint fifth position in the team event.

West Cheshire AC’s juniors will be aiming to finish their league season on a high this Sunday.

The Stanney Oaks-based club’s squad of under 17 and U20 members head to Ashton Under Lyne for the final round of their Youth Development Track and Field League campaign.

West Cheshire AC are currently third overall in the league standings after three of the four rounds, just four match points adrift of second placed Blackburn Harriers.

Mark Povey completed the Blackpool 10k road race in 50:31 for 149th position.

Entries are being received for the Essar Sutton Six 10k road race at Guilden Sutton, Chester, being organised by West Cheshire AC on Sunday, September 15 (11am start).

Fixtures this weekend include South Cheshire Harriers’ Queens Park Quacker Race at Queens Park, Crewe, on Friday (7pm start).

The Deestriders Off Road Grand Prix Race takes place at Shotton on Thursday, August 1, and the final round of the Northern Track and Field League at Sportcity, Manchester, is on Saturday, August 3.
